River Retreat

River Retreat is a self catering cottage in the village of Kapitanovtsi just 10 minutes drive from the historical city of Vidin in the north of Bulgaria.  The cottage can sleep up to four people in two bedrooms and has a fully fitted kitchen, lounge, entrance conservatory area, shower room and a large terrace area for dining with views over the countryside and mountains.

The village is only 10 minutes drive from the newly constructed bridge into Romania and the same distance from the river Danube. 

The garden has fruit trees and organically grown fruit and vegetables as well as a pretty flower garden and growing area.  The cottage is in a peaceful location but very close to many historical sites.  It has a wood burning stove and is centrally heated. 

Bath towels and bedding are supplied and also transfers from Sofia airport are available.  The area boasts many cultural and historical sites as well as walking, bird watching, cycling and tours of the area.  Romania can also be explored both by car and a local ferry service from Vidin.

There are river tours available from Vidin which is set on the river Danube and a perfect place for fishing and swimming with small beaches.  The Danube is very beautiful and attracts many painters and artists. 

A river restaurant boat can be found on the banks of the river.  Very close to this area are museums and parks and the University of Vidin.
